Multi Colored Polka Dots

Hello Everyone!

Another nail post today were I have a trick for creating polka dot nails easily with something you probably already have in your make up bag.

Another nail post today were I have a trick for creating polka dot nails easily with something you probably already have in your make up bag.

  1. I use an old felt tip liquid eyeliner brush and I have cleaned and dried throughly, Simply snip the pointy end off with a scissors leaving me with a flat felt tip base.
  2. Source for Image
  3. Then I cover a plate in clingfilm (clear plastic wrap) and drip some nail varnish onto the plate. Get your eyeliner brush and lightly dip it into the nail varnish - careful not to put too much nail varnish on the brush or it will create blobs not dots.
  4. I used four differant colors for this look, so I dipped so cotton wool in nail varnish remover and cleaned the top of the brush between colors.
  5. It is important to take your time with this look and try and leave 2-3mins between each new color.

Top Tip: Do not apply clear nail varnish for at least two after applying the dots are it may smudge and run, ruining the look

Then nail varnishes I used for this look were:
Base; Sally Hansen - Pink Slip
Orange: Catrice -Fred said Red
Red: Rimmel - Double Decker Red

Weekly Wants #1

Hello Everyone!

I always love reading these types of posts, so I thought I would starting doing them as well. I dunno if I going to buy any of the items of clothing but a girl can dream!

Black and Gold Studded Dress; Brown Buckle Boots; Black Bowler Bag; Black and White Striped Jumper

I am seriously considering the brown boots from New Look because they are so wearable and would be great for wearing to college.

I fell in love with the New Look Dress as soon as I saw it. It would be perfect for night out with sky high heels and a clutch bag. But could also be dressed down with a long cardigan, tights and ankle boots.

I really like this River Island bag, I have one kinda similar to it at the moment but it is two years old so its starting to look a bit worse for wear!

And finally the striped jumper from H&M, I think H&M do some of the best high street knitwear. It lasts the test of time without getting holes or bobbles.

Thank you for reading this post. What are you weekly wants at the moment?

Quotes.........

Hello Everyone!

When I first thought about starting a blog I really wanted it to be about what I love about blogging, and to write posts that I would like to read myself, and hopefully other would like to read them as well.

Anyone who knows me in really life will know that I have a bit of an obsession with quotes! This might sound kinda weird, but a good quote can really motivate me and change my mood when I'm not having a good day.   Me and one of my best friend from university started a tradition were we would take it in turns to find a motivational quote each day. This went on for the first year of uni, so as you can imagine we collected quite a few.

So I want to start a tradition on my blog where I share some of my favorite quotes with you. I have a board dedicated to quotes on my Pinterest if you  check it out.
I love this quote it never fails to help me when I'm feeling a bit down.

Thank you for reading this post, let me know if you like these types of post or are they too personal?
Also if you want leave me a comment telling me what your favorite quote is.

Raspberry and Almond Cake

Hello!

I love to bake!!! For the first recipe on my blog I decided to make a Raspberry Almond Cake. I had never tasted this cake before but I love raspberries and almond so I thought why not?!

I searched the internet for inspiration and in the end I mixed a few different recipes to get the cake I wanted. I used fresh raspberries because they were “2 for €3” in my local supermarket. But I would have used frozen if that’s all I had at hand. The only problem with frozen is due to the extra moisture the  cake could take a little longer in the oven, so keep that in mind!

This cake is a basic all in one sponge. It is incredibly simple, all you do is put all the ingredients apart from the raspberries in a bowl or food processor and mix for a minute or until combined.

 It really is that simple!

Then all you do is line an 8/9 inch springform tin with grease proof paper and add half the sponge mixture, cover with raspberries followed by the rest of the sponge.

I will admit this makes a big cake so it does take anywhere from a hour to an hour and a half to cook. But it is so worth it! The cake is kept moist from the almond and the juices from the raspberries.

This cake is perfect with a cup of tea or served hot out of the oven with whipped cream or ice-cream.

Ingredients
280g butter, melted
280g caster sugar
180g ground almonds
4 large eggs
1 tbsp almond essence, (optional)
360g self raising flour, sieved
100ml milk
250g fresh/frozen raspberries
2 tbsp flaked almonds

Preheat the oven to 170˚c (fan oven) 180˚c (conventional) or gas mark 4. Line the tin with grease proof paper.

2    Place all the ingredients apart from the raspberries  and the flaked almonds in a mixing bowl or food processor and mix for one minute or until the  mixture comes together

Place half of the sponge in the tin and spread it around the tin to form an even layer.  Pour the raspberries on top of the sponge and top with the rest of the sponge mixture.

Put the cake in the preheated oven for an hour to an hour and half. Test if the cake is cooked by placing in a clean skewer or toothpick in the center of the cake, if it comes out clean the cake is cooked

Place the cake on a wire rack to cool or eat hot out of the oven.

      Enjoy

11 Questions Tag

Hello Everyone! How you all today?

Since my blog is very new I thought I would do the 11 questions tag.

The Eleven Questions Tag:

1.     Post eleven random facts about yourself
2.     Answer the eleven questions
3.     Tag someone else to do the Tag

Eleven Random Facts
1.     I started school when I was three! I was too impatient to wait until I was four to start Primary School. Little bit of a determined madam I was.

The Eleven Questions

1.What inspired you to start blogging?
I have been reading blogs for about two years now. When ever I wanted to buy a
new product hair or beauty related the first thing I would do was search blogs for
reviews. The blogging community is so united, helpful and informative. I have been
thinking about starting a blog for about a year now. But I kept making excuses, so I
finally made a commitment to start and the join the community I have admired for so
long.

2. Who is your blogging inspiration?
I read countless blogs over the years. But one of my biggest in beauty blogging
inspirations is Amy for Paperbacks and Postcards. You can always rely on Amy for
honest and informative reviews. Plus her FOTD are gorgeous and creative. For
fashion and lifestyle blogging I love Jersey and the Monkey. Emma’s outfits are
always so stylish and elegant, and she seems like a genuine nice girl.

3. What is your favourite subject to study?

This is easy! Home Economics – the subject I will be teaching for the rest of my
life.

4. What’s your go to outfit?
Skinny jeans, jumpers/cardigan and pumps. Kinda boring but easy for college

5. What song do you want your ‘’first dance’’ at your wedding to be?
This is cheesy but Lonestar – Amazed or Jason Mraz – I won’t give up on us

6. iPhone or Blackberry?
I have a Blackberry Curve, but I wouldn’t say no to a iPhone... maybe someday

7. Would you rather have to wake up super early or stay up super late?
I would love to get up super early but I always stay up to late! Catch 22 I suppose

8. What are your favourite makeup and beauty brands?
It’s so hard to pick one. For face I would say Collection. For eye shadows I would
say Gosh. And for mascaras it would have to be Maybelline

9. Did anyone do anything nice to you today?
My dad put petrol is my car, which was really appreciated. Thanks Dad.

10.What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
Hands down getting into my university course and moving 300 miles away from
home. But hard work and determination will get you anywhere.

11. What’s your favourite quote?
No matter how you feel get up, dress up and show up.

So that is my eleven question tag, I'm tagging anyone who reads this to do it!

Thanks very much for read this. Do you have any other tags you could suggest?

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Foundation

Hello Everyone. Thank you for stopping for stopping by, today I'm going to talk about Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Foundation.

If anyone vaguely familiar with the blogging community was asked to name a cult beauty product Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer would undoubtedly  be mentioned.

When browsing though Boots last week I came across the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Foundation. I was immediately interested. I have tried countless foundations over the years in the never ending search for perfection (<-- Terribly Pun). I have tried everything from Estee Lauders Double Wear to Revlon Colourstay, but none of them were quiet right.

I have oily/combination skin that is very prone to spots and blemishes. I like a medium to full coverage foundation with a matte but natural looking finish. Not asking for much now am I?!

When I picked up Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Foundation it was on special offer for €6.39 instead of its usually €9.39 price tag. So it’s is incredibly good value if its compared to Estee Lauder Double Wear which costs €35 or Revlon Colourstay at €17.89.

As far as looks  go its scores high. It has a heavy glass bottle but more importantly it has a pump. Something its more expensive counterparts do not have.

I was excited to try this foundation considering the reputation of the concealer. I wore it to my cousins 21st that night so it was put under a lot of pressure. But I have to say it coped amazingly. I have seen worn it every day for the past week and a half in a variety of situations and it still doesn’t disappoint.

The only small problem I have with it is that it does settle into some of the pores around my nose after about 6 hours. But I find adding a little extra powder with a good brush solves this problem quickly.

Pros:
Amazing Coverage
Natural Looking
Very good colour match
The bottle has a pump
Stays Matte

Cons:
Does settle into my pores a little

Overall I love this foundation had would highly recommend trying it, especially if your a fan of the Collection 200 Lasting Perfection Foundation.

Thank you some much for reading this post. Have you ever tried this foundation? What is your Holy Grail foundation?

Jess
